Nelufar Hedayat is a Doha Debates correspondent, bringing the debate topics and themes to global audiences for continued conversations across digital platforms. Nelufar is also the host of Doha Debates’ podcast, Course Correction.


Nelufar is an award-winning journalist who previously hosted the investigative series The Traffickers on Fusion TV, uncovering the illegal trade and trafficking of people, precious minerals, counterfeit drugs and endangered species. She traveled through Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas to chronicle corrupt officials, dealers, poachers and smugglers, revealing vast transportation networks, safe houses and packaging factories. Her work has earned prestigious awards and nominations, including Livingston awards for excellence in reporting, an international affairs award from the Association for International Broadcasting, and best investigation and journalist of the year awards at the Asian Media Awards, as well as the reporter/correspondent Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media.


Before Doha Debates and Fusion, Nelufar worked for the BBC, Channel 4 News and The Guardian, chronicling the challenges facing women, children and families in conflict zones, from vaccination battles and organ markets to the global refugee crisis and health workers risking their lives to vaccinate children in hostile regions. Nelufar’s 2018 docuseries Food Exposed explores the hidden truth behind the global food industry.
