Yilmaz Acar is a senior at Ibn Haldun University, where he is double-majoring in Islamic studies and political science and international relations. He is originally from Mardin, a city in southeastern Turkey. He is greatly interested in Islamic political thought and speaks English and Arabic in addition to his native language. Yilmaz conducted an Erasmus+ internship in Germany in the field of Islamic political thought. He was awarded the best speaker at the National Universities Debating Championship, where his team was also named world champion. In his free time, Yilmaz enjoys horseback riding and hiking. He is a member of the third cohort of the Doha Debates Ambassador Program.
