Because Deepa is visually impaired, teachers assumed she was incapable of learning despite her good grades — and things didn’t change much when she entered the workforce. To reduce high unemployment rates for persons with disabilities, she wants companies to design workplaces without barriers and improve their equitable hiring practices.
